Foxy Sketches for the Discerning Viewer

 So, as hinted at on Instagram, I did some sketches of a fox today.

 Specifically the little sweetie who came into our back garden today. Being the dork I am I took a tonne of pictures of the adorable creature and picked out a few to sketch.

 I don't usually draw animals, so they're a little rough around the edges. But I think I did a good job for someone who hasn't drawn a fox for what must be well over a decade, if at all.

 First I want to show you the pictures I used as reference.

 I took them with my phone, and I'm not such a great photographer, so they're not super great.

 But they are super cute, so it's still worth it.

 I have no idea what it's doing in that last photo, but it's adorable and it kept lying down like that.

 It's definitely amongst the cutest things I've seen this year.

 If you're relatively new to my blog, you're probably wondering where this fox came from. Well, we have a nature reserve at the back of our garden and there are indeed foxes living in it. There's also a hole in the bottom of the fence that the local cats use to get around, and this is a young enough fox that it can squeeze in and out of there.

 Anyway, enough prevaricating, time for the sketches.

The Joker has finally been finished

 Because I slept all day, there is no photo of Jon Snow. So to try and make it up to you, here are some sketches for my next big project.

Lady Muffet-Arachnia

  This was originally going to be a young her, but I actually like the idea of doing a series of pictures of this character at different points in her life.

 There's a painting that inspired this, but because it's at my sister's it's gonna take a little bit to post a photo up.

 Hopefully I won't sleep all day tomorrow ^^; so you'll get that Jon Snow picture.

 I've been on something of a hiatus on Jon Snow this week, and mostly I've just been lazy.

 However, I have been working on a couple of things.

 Recently I've been kind of obsessed with Condemned 2: Bloodshot. I bought it on a whim when I saw it for five pounds in GAME. I genuinely thought it was going to be awful. However, I love it.

 It has some poor design choices and a few game play issues, but I am really enjoying it so far, and it's bound to get even better.

 So, over the last couple of days I've been working on a sculpture of the main character, Ethan Thomas, in DAS clay.

 It's awkward.

 I'll make sure to post a picture of my progress tomorrow, but I do have something to show you now.

 I entered into a sketch trade with a friend on deviantART and I asked for a picture of Ethan Thomas, in return I did a quick colour sketch of her original character.

Artist's Block for Felizias

 I tried to challenge myself with position and perspective here, but I don't think I did the best job in the world.

 Oh well, that's what practicing is for, right?

 In other art news, I've been doing a bit more work on Keesekwi Commences and I've really gotten stuck into that Joker picture.

 Look! Babby!Joker has skin now! I did it with mostly Copic markers, and it could use more work in other media as well. Right now I'm pondering if I should keep working on the rest of the picture, or just continue on him for the moment.

 Decisions, decisions.

 Anyway, I'll post more tomorrow (and by that, I mean after I've slept), and I mean it this time. No leaving you in the lurch for a week again.

More Jon Snow work

 Alas, I have failed NaNoWriMo, but on the plus side, I've been having a whale of a time working on this Game of Thrones piece that  have previously mentioned.

 Before the main event, here's a quick sketch I did in pencil and photoshop for fun one evening:

 Now, this is the progress on Jon Snow.

 I finished the pencil work, so I had line art ready to paint on.

 I'm sorry it's not a scan, but this piece is far too large for my scanner. Also, this is not the worst of it.

This is by far the worst photo. I couldn't find my camera, so I used my 3DS. It may be an awful picture, but at least you get to see the colours so far, right?

 I'll make sure I have my camera proper by the next post.

 Anyway, as for this piece, so far it's been coloured with some Derwent inktense blocks, watercolour pencils and water soluble graphite pencils.

 I'm planning to work in some more watercolours before possibly using acrylic and coloured pencils.This is something of an experiment for me, so wish me luck!

 In other news, I got hold of a copy of The Art of Alice: Madness Returns and I'm very happy about it. The concept work for this game is just stunning and you learn a few interesting things along the way too. It's definitely worth a look if you enjoyed the game or its predecessor.

New paintings, finished and in production

 To my surprise, I finished the painting I promised a picture of today. Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to take a photo during the day, as I was preoccupied by spending time with my sister.

 However, I do have a couple of pictures to show that I took under artificial light. I'll have some properly taken and edited photos to show tomorrow, but for the mean time, here you go :)

 This painting doesn't have a name yet, so any suggestions would be welcome.

 I've also sketched out an idea for painting on my other 12.5x12.5 cm canvas and I should be finishing up the design and starting to paint it tomorrow.

 It promises to be a fun one, I think.
